V2 kit assembly questions

I got my V2 kit and am trying to get started.

It came with no instructions and the quick start guide is missing the following information:

Wiring for the display
Wiring for the activation pushbutton switch

It also came with two memory cards. One with a red sticker and one with a green.

What is on each card?

I would really like to start making videos and taking pictures ASAP, so any help would be GREAT!

I got my v2 kit few days ago, and like you I can't figure how to plug the display.

About the memory cards, the green sticker one is formatted with "OpenCV" and the red one with "SLP".

You can find what's SLP and OpenCV here, at the end of the page :
https://wiki.stereopi.com/index.php?tit ... tart_Guide

But, yeah. Actually, v2 kits are shipped, but there isn't many documentation about "how to assemble" and "how to use" from start to end.

I second the request for assembly walkthrough! I'm also curious to see get TFT screen and shutter button working. We've heard there will be a post in the next day or so detailing assembly, shutter, and display plus more. In the meantime I have it put together and taking pictures/video via Ethernet.

OpenCV (computer learning)is on one SD card, SLP2 (stereo photography) is on other SD card. I can't answer to the bag sticker color bc mine were switched and in different bags than noted on Quickstart page. OpenCV boots an orange desktop and you can use USB mouse and keyboard. SLP2 boots with anaglyph glasses and you connect to it from another PC/mobile by going to "http://stereopi" in a browser. At least, that's what worked for me. "Stereopi.local" is supposed to work but didn't for me.

Hello guys,
Sorry for my late reply.
The assembly guides are now published in our Wiki:
StereoPi Quick Start Guide
StereoPi Camera Kit Quick Start Guide

The micro SD card with the SLP2 is marked by a green sticker, and OpenCV is by a red one.

A detailed guide for the SLP2 is coming soon!

.... but note that my copy of the StereoPi V2 Quickstart guide claims that SLP2 is marked with a Red sticker and OpenCV with a green one.
Realizator's version is correct but be warned.

Couple more questions:

- When setting up the push-button for the still camera with "Use GPIO as button for Photo Shot", what do the drop-down numbers mean?

- The TFT display on mine is inverted with respect to both the computer screen and the resulting jpg image. the Invert Video switch corrects the tft display but then the camera and jpg are inverted. What to do?

I believe I figured out the answer to my first question. The numbers in the drop down box refer (I believe) to the GPIO pin used for the connection. Duh!

Hi dnaman,
Drop-down numbers are GPIO numbers.
To simplify the first connection, we draw a connection diagram in this section of the Wiki.
Right after the diagram, you can find the photo of the pins used for the button connection.

As for the upside-down screen, we discussed the solution in this topic. I also updated the Wiki with the link to the video.

Thanks Eugene/Realizator.

I did wonder about flipping the screen or lens plate but wasn't sure that would end up with the left camera-image on the left side of the screen and vice-versa. Nice to have it confirmed that it works!

dnaman, you can swap/flip/rotate camera from the administration panel (link to the description in our Wiki). The easiest way to check which camera is where is to put a finger in front of one of the cameras and look at the screen. Please put a finger in front, but not on the camera lens :) Do not forget to clean up the fingerprints from the optics, otherwise you'll have a "blurry" image.

The H and V flips didn't help utimately .... I hadn't noticed the rotate. For checking which camera is where, I just put one of the lens caps on and worked with one side .... less confusing.

I have I believe fixed the problem by rotating the tft .... see my post in the viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1228
