How to get live preview on StereoPi 2 Camera Kit's 2-inch LCD?

Post by sodyiumcl »

Hello,

I got the StereoPi v2 Camera Kit from Crowdsupply and have fully assembled it with the latest version of SLP.

I can access SLP over the network to take pictures, but the 2-inch TFT screen that's part of the kit only shows the StereoPi logo and nothing else.

What do I need to do to set up the screen so that it can show be a live preview before I click the button to take a picture (or video)?

Thank you!

Hi sodyiumcl,

Since you are able to see the StereoPi logo on your TFT screen, it is connected and configured correctly.

Did you install the latest update for SLP (usint this way described in our Wiki)?

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly @Realizator. Yes, I followed the instructions you linked to and am running version 0.15.3 of SLP. Are there additional steps I should take to tell the screen to show a live preview?

Could you please share your settings in Menu -> Display -> TFT display?

And also your video settings please (Menu -> Camera settings -> Video) please.

All right, I've uploaded some screenshots and photos here:

https://lutim.stemy.me/gallery#eFiVQNqc ... muxl7X.jpg

For Menu -> Display -> TFT display, I see "TFT Display Enabled" checked, and "TFT Display Model" set to "Waveshare 2 inch". See this screenshot.

For Menu -> Camera settings -> Video, please see this screenshot.

Also, here's a screenshot of the version of SLP, and a photo of the exterior showing the TFT display with the StereoPi logo.

Does this help?

Thanx! All settings looks good to me.
Could ypu please share the "Menu -> Camera settings -> Camera" settings too?
We need to check the "preview" checkbox and "Preview opacity" settings.

Aha!! That did it. I checked the "Preview" box under "Menu -> Camera settings -> Camera" and now see a live preview on the 2 inch LCD!! Thank you so much @Realizator. :D

Sorry if I missed it, but is this mentioned in the StereoPi v2 Camera Kit wiki page somewhere?

sodyiumcl I'm glad it works for you!

As for the Wiki - SLP2 getting a lot of updates and new features, and Wiki is a bit outdated (shame on me!). I'll update all screenshots and descriptions this week!

Thank you for spotting this issue!
