question on cutout for camera

Post by cjonesy20 »

Why is there a large rectangular cutout for the camera? Is there a light sensor or something? Can I just put a hole for the lens?

Huh, cjonesy20, it's a really actual question! We've created this solution after several broken cameras! :-)

Here are some facts:
1. V1 camera has a LED and one more small components on it. That's why we did additional "nose" for rectangular cutout for every camera. But V2 cameras has no this components, so you can just use rectangular form.
2. The very first approach was to do a very small square holes, which fits small camera optics. Yes, cameras fits perfect! BUT... When you try to remove it from this support plate, optics just cuts out! And you have a camera module with the naked sensor in your hands, and small plastic box with an optics inside your camera mounting plate.

So if you decide to do a small holes, PLEASE make some additional space for safety camera removal.
