Capcha registration

There are robots that post ads on the forum.
Captcha do not work, because pawning a captcha is cheap (some people are paid around 1$/1000 to solve them instead of robots)
In the past, I saw that adding a simple checkbox "I am not a robot" (not a captcha, a simple checkbox without external service call) filtered out 100% of the ads (actually it may be anything custom). I do not run a forum anymore, but I suspect that it will still filter out automatic ad crawlers because an attack has to be specifically targeted toward such a registration form to work (contrary to captcha which is the same protection on tons of forums).
