Hi Kai,
We prefer to use stable tested releases, that’s why our images are “conservative”.
But during next several days I will try to test new Raspbian and port our scripts there. If everything will work fine - I publish updated code and Raspbian image.

Re: Itinerant self-service stereoscopic photo automaton… the Stereomaton
As the festival is over, we can say that our presentation was a great success. The visitors were amazed by the 3D and particularly because the photos were taken during the festival itself. Cool! :-) Our first idea was to allow people to take 3D selfies, but actually a very small part of the public ...

Re: How to setup StereoPi using fresh Raspbian image
Stereomaton, V4L2 has been mentioned in this stereoscopic mode for CM thread on RPi forum. There are about 7 pages, you can just search page by "V4L". As I understand, V4L2 driver exists, but stereoscopic mode is not implemented here (yet?).

Re: How to setup StereoPi using fresh Raspbian image
@stereomaton do you know if openCV Python uses the same subsystem or it uses a different stack ? Also RaspiStill seems to be working and taking pictures from both cameras on request. For OpenCV the PiCamera is used (MMAL-based). If your raspistill/raspivid tests are passed, PiCamera should work too...

Re: How to setup StereoPi using fresh Raspbian image
Hi Sumit, Stereomaton, thank you for your description! If SLP works fine, it means hardware is Ok. Sumit, I think in your case you’ve been misleaded by our stereopi.conf file. This file is not used by stock Raspbian, and was designed specially for SLP. So all your settings (like WiFi, cameras modes ...

Re: A physical button to take photos
Paul, there are several ways to do autostart (look at this article).
We prefer to use init.d approach. The simpest way I use for quick tests is a bash.rc approach. So you may choose the way you like.

Re: A physical button to take photos
Paul, your approach is good to create solution from scratch for simple applications. You can use it with stock Raspbian to create functions you need, so it is just another approach. In SLP we tried to collect and integrate a lot of different features with a lot of tricks. For example, tiny webserver...

Re: Configure cameras with 2 different settings?
Paul, Stereomaton gives you perfect answer. I just like to add one notice: when you use cameras in -3d mode, their settings are synchronized by Raspbian. I mean classic raspistill implementation like this: raspistill -3d -sbs -[settings here] -o stereoimage.jpg For your case you can use two independ...

Re: Itinerant self-service stereoscopic photo automaton… the Stereomaton
Stereomaton, your project is really great! :-) I see you've used touchscreen connected to GPIO, and curious if there were any issues with it. I've played with non-touch TFT (mentioned here ), and it just works with no issues. I hope you will cover your screen connection and settings in your next rep...

Re: wifi dongle
Hi Alik,
I have nothing to add to Stereomaton's answer Just want to say, that during last couple of years all WiFi modules we tried was supported by Raspbian.

Re: A physical button to take photos
Alik, chmod +x just adds "executable" property to the file. You can do it other way (like using MC editor, already installed in SLP). I agree with Stereomaton, that it is looks like some syntax issues in your case. Linux suggest you several ways to do the same thing, and I'm glad that one of this wa...

Re: A physical button to take photos
Thanks, I did everything but nothing helps. Then I've added a "python ./scripts/button.py &" to my "run.sh" and now it works! Alik, I'm glad it works for you. :) But I recommend you to dig out this problem, it can be useful for you in the future. I can suggest you have some issues with changing fil...

Re: USB power problem
Codfangler, thank you very much! Now I understand your situation. I think it is a USB connector problem, as their contact pins inside should not be damaged by any USB device, as in your case. May be bottom connector is still Ok and you can use it before replacement board arrives. I will contact you ...

Re: USB power problem
Could you please make a photo of your USB connectors? You can attach it here to your post, or send me by email to @gmail.com, with my nickname on this forum before '@' sign. Also, as a plan B to use your board before replacement arrives, you can use 3rd USB on a pins. I usually do a simple adapter, ...

Re: A physical button to take photos
Hi Alik, 1. I hope you've unlocked filesystem before all these steps. 2. You do not need to connect this pin to 3.3V (as you mentioned). As you can see in the code, Stereomaton use fall edge detection in this line GPIO.wait_for_edge(button, GPIO.FALLING) That is photo is taken when you connect this ...

Re: Which chessboard for the calibration phase
Oops, I did not see this file. This time I managed to capture pairs in which the script found the chessboard in half of them. Unluckily the image was highly distorted (looked like a big barrel distortion, although I used the not-fisheye script of the tutorial) and highly cropped. A second capture o...

Re: USB power problem
Hi Codfangler, As you can use Ethernet, I can suggest that Microchip's USB/LAN chip is powered up correctly and works. As for the USB - we need to check several hypothesis. 1. Please check, if it is 5V power on USB connectors. The easiest way is to check it on USB pins (pinout is here in our Wiki ) ...
