Re: button
I am surprised that Realizator did not already answer to your question, because he is usually very prompt. Concerning the addition of the buttons in the interface, I did not explore that part yet so I cannot answer. However, you will need to call a script or a program when the user clicks on the but...

Re: Configure cameras with 2 different settings?
I found that the V1 and V2 cameras seem to capture about 10-11EV in bright light conditions, which is better than I would have thought, but those numbers might drop quite a lot in low light (ie when ISO are higher). While the numbers might sound like it would be ok with 2 or 3 photos, don't forget t...

Re: A physical button to take photos
My aim was to modify SLP minimally, so that other users can easily add it too. Thus I used a gpio library that was already installed, and the photo is taken through the SLP system without accessing the cameras directly. That way, other functionalities of the distribution (such as live preview on sma...

Re: Configure cameras with 2 different settings?
This effect is due to the wide dynamic range of the scene and is not related to stereo. Using the cameras independently is a good intuition, however... With the scene you describe, there are more than 17EV (I say it roughly by estimation, it is probably a bit more), which means that the moon is appr...

Re: Itinerant self-service stereoscopic photo automaton… the Stereomaton
Stereomaton, your project is really great! :-) Thanks. People who have seen it in action in the preparing stages also like it. The festival takes place in a few days and we hope it will be enjoyed by the public too. I see you've used touchscreen connected to GPIO, and curious if there were any issu...

Itinerant self-service stereoscopic photo automaton… the Stereomaton
We wanted to talk about this project here, but the "field report" contest hastened the report. Our original text has been completely restructured by the Crowd Supply team (and is in my opinion a bit less interesting now), the images are not the more appropriate ones and some legends were changed, bu...

Re: A physical button to take photos
I was surprised by the answer you reported and checked in the sources of coreutils. The mode indicated in quotes is not altered, so you probably missed the + sign. On SLP, I noticed that the console in the web interface is a very limited emulation. I have not the board here to check, but perhaps it ...

Re: wifi dongle
Adding support for a specific device is, in the general case, a hard task. The guys who work on the wifi devices in the kernel already do an amazing job by supporting so much models. When they succeed to support new devices, the drivers are gradually (and quickly) integrated in the Linux kernel. Her...

Re: Which chessboard for the calibration phase
Thanks. I do not have access to my stereopi for the next weeks, but I will eventually work on this subject again. The aim was to rectify stills, so we switched to another suitable tool (hugin) that we already master enough, even if it is slower. For the firsts batches, I read in the documentation of...

Re: A physical button to take photos
Awesome answer. I forgot to mention this execution right because, well I added it by rote. This is likely the problem here and I am not sure I would have thought of it so quickly. To complete general knowledge you provided, on the two ways to launch python script, there is a small catch: sometimes i...

Re: Which chessboard for the calibration phase
Oops, I did not see this file. This time I managed to capture pairs in which the script found the chessboard in half of them. Unluckily the image was highly distorted (looked like a big barrel distortion, although I used the not-fisheye script of the tutorial) and highly cropped. A second capture of...

Re: Basic stereophoto with raspistill
Erratum: I just noticed today that decimate option in conjunction with height/width specification is a bad idea as the full view if not used and moreover the aspect ratio is odd. Just remove the -dec option and it would be OK.
I will edit the original post to reflect this observation.

Re: StereoPi Field Report
Are they the first received and accepted entries, or do you gather all submits and rank the 10 best at the end of month?
A collateral question would be... should we hurry to submit or should we take the time go craft a nice report?

Which chessboard for the calibration phase
I try to replicate OpenCV tutorial https://medium.com/stereopi/opencv-and-depth-map-on-stereopi-tutorial-62cb6792bbed In the 4th step, the script says "No chessboard could be found." for each image. I tried several chess patterns with few big cases and more small ones, but it changed nothing. I also...

Wow, so quick answer!
Not knowing raspbian much, I did not know that it existed.

SSH & VK on OpenCV image
I just flashed the OpenCV image and I am quite disappointed: there is no ssh server thus I cannot connect to it.
I found a mouse and tried to interact with it, but there is no virtual keyboard neither, thus I have to find a USB keyboard too now.

Re: Oculus Go livestream?
Realizor said in another thread that the project is paused because of lack of developer. Is there a place to see your specifications ? Actually, I know a guy that was freelance last time I met him and who basically made some projects similar to this (with cameras, occulus and mobile). His situation ...

Re: 360 video
According to https://www.crowdsupply.com/virt2real/stereopi#demo-360-panoramic-photos-and-videos someone started to test 360x180, at least in photo. I suspect fisheye stitching being a bit heavier than rectilinear camera images, so you possibly would get a lower FPS at same size, but in theory it so...

Capcha registration
There are robots that post ads on the forum. Captcha do not work, because pawning a captcha is cheap (some people are paid around 1$/1000 to solve them instead of robots) In the past, I saw that adding a simple checkbox "I am not a robot" (not a captcha, a simple checkbox without external service ca...

Re: Sources of com.virt2real.stereopi
I understand the dilemma. Personally, I do not like to release too early, especially in the phases where it does not work or where it changes architecture a lot. However, I try to share in pretty early stages nonetheless (often around the first basically usable version). The rational is based on mul...
