Re: Hardware power and transfering data
There is no builtin wifi, but you can add a dongle. Also, most phones nowadays include a simple wifi hotspot that can be useful with stereopi. Network can also be used via Ethernet, but it still requires infrastructure. The third way highlighted by Realizator is to use USB gadget which makes the ste...

Re: sync external flash (light)
I think triggering a commercial flash is done by shorting two pins of its connector (keyword: hotshoe). However, because it is high voltage (compared to stereopi) you will need to add some electronics between the stereopi and the flash, probably only an optocoupler and resistors. I let you make your...

Sources of com.virt2real.stereopi
Are the sources of com.virt2real.stereopi Android app publicly available somewhere? I would like to make a similar app, but which: 1) displays in 3D on my autostereoscopic screen 2) has a record button to take photographs (and maybe control of some other params in the future) I will probably do it f...

Re: Camera multiplexor crazy idea
Woow, it looks mega expansive for the task; but I might have not understood the whole thing. If you can switch between two kind of cameras, you can profit from them. However, I suspect you will have to stop and start for the switch to work (and perhaps reboot, depending on how initialization is done...

Re: Some new video guides
Good job, except that the videos are not in 3D.
The written documentation is more complete and already say that, but as people tend to not read it is a good complement.

Maybe you can add these files to the "DIY Ninjas Section" of the wiki.Realizator wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:54 amHere are top and bottom layers details for you: stereopi-top-bottom.zip
They are useful for other usages.

Re: Stereo window placement
To illustrate, let's work on this image: https://i.ibb.co/dL85H7P/base.jpg This is the kind of images a stereopi can output, except that I pre-aligned the two images so that everyone can run its own tests on this pair if needed with immediate results. Here is a quick-and-dirty sketch of the scene, s...

Re: Stereo window placement
I practice stereophotography for a few years now, and window violation is a very common mistake for beginners. Actually, the brain accommodate somehow, but the same photograph with stereo window placed to avoid those violations make it far far better. The second most common mistake is possibly (mis)...

Re: New SLP image not working for both cameras simultaneously
I had similar fear the last time I used my stereopi (changed OS too) with mmal errors displayed but I finished to figure out that SLP has already a process which captured the cameras, so the raspistill program cannot contact them. Probably not the same case here, but it would be worth it to test for...

Re: A physical button to take photos
Forgot to mention: The button in my example is GPIO n°3 as noted in the pinout of the wiki: GPIO03 (SCL1, I2C) https://wiki.stereopi.com/images/f/fb/Stereopi-gpio.png I chose this one because there is a GND pin very close, but it can be anything else not already used (just change the number at the t...

A physical button to take photos
Today I had another small time to play with stereopi. I decided to add a physical button on it to take photographs. The idea is simple : A script launched at startup waits for the button and than call the SLP "make_photo" page as if we pressed the icon on the web interface. (Need SLP with such photo...

Re: Stereo window placement
I hope I was clear. If it is not the case, feel free to ask. I phrased it the way I think of it the more naturally, but I am familiar enough with this notion to rephrase it in multiple ways if you need more explanations.

Stereo window placement
I just want to introduce important notion in stereo photography (it applies to video too) for enthusiasts who come to stereo through stereopi: the stereo window . In traditional photography, there is a frame in which all elements are included. While framing, among other things, it is important to pa...

Re: 3d cam with mobile phone as viewfinder and controller
I searched for a long time because of a stupid mistake: I swapped left and right images in align_image_stack so that its automatic window placement was systematically a very bad choice. In the right order, it is okay (although this time, I tested on one pair only). I am not deeply convinced by the a...

Re: 3d cam with mobile phone as viewfinder and controller
Actually I did not find freeware programs that can do this alignment. SPM is a freeware. Did you meant free/libre software ? You can get very good results with hugin (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/) even in presence of lens distortion. It is a free software (as defined by the FSF https://www.fsf.org...

Re: viewing stereo images on the web site
Personally, I was happy that parallel version was used here because I can easily fuse in parallel view, but I have hard time with cross view. However, I can use sView software to swap the images on the fly on Android (long press the image in the browser and choose open with sView) + in bonus it is c...

Re: OTG support
Found! First, according to https://lb.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=173267#p1107702 , we need to have USB_OTG logical 1 to be in device mode. Stereopi has a pull-down on this pin which makes the USB port to be a host (makes sense for LAN/USB). Fortunately, thanks to this resistor, man could...
