Re: Using two RPi cameras (breakout)

Hi Erihh3, The module you mentioned is designed to work with the single-camera only, but you can choose which one from the two connected. Here is a part of this board description: "Only one of the two cameras can be activated at a time, and they are working in alternate ways.". There exist a special...

Re: Capture still images from HQ Camera 12.3MP

Okay, some tips for you: 1. You can use raspistill for each camera, using a command "raspistill -cs 0 ..." for the first camera, and "raspistill -cs 1" for the second. Please check your system can show both images to be sure your cameras are connected correctly. advanced tip : original raspivid can'...

Re: Communicating Stereo Pi with Another Raspberry Pi

Hi Sofia1,
Yes. You can do it by the network (Ethernet or WiFi), or by GPIO. There are a lot of ways to do this.
What are you planning to do with this communicated couple of devices?

Re: Capture still images from HQ Camera 12.3MP

Hello Tuannm, This issue was discussed in this topic . 12.3MPix can be captured as a photo, as RPi GPU able to process it. But the OpenCV code works with this as with video by default, and tries to request a lot of images per second. Even for modern phones, 4K is a limit for recording, and you are t...

Re: Ethernet/USB disconnect when doing stress test

Hello MORagab, Wow, your result is very interesting! In our stress-tests StereoPi was able to alive up to 83 celsius (where the CM3+ throttling usually begins). Could you please share your enclosure design? I'm curious, what causing this thermal problem in your case. What' going on under the hood: 1...

Re: Defect detection

Amey18, one of my friends is developing a similar system now. They need to check the quality of the plastic components (size and form). For this approach, they are using OpenCV to build a point cloud from the depth map (using a stereoscopic photo from the StereoPi). And using this point cloud, they ...

Re: Custom Board Process?

Hi Hadr.tech,
Am I right to understand, that you are planning to create additional PCB with all sensors you need, and connect it to the StereoPi? Or you are plan to create a CM3+ board from scratch?

Re: goodbye friends

Hello Stereomii, It's really sad. You inspired us to do a lot of improvements in our SLP image, and if we collect all your forum posts, we can do a book with receipts for advanced stereoscopic photographers! Thank you! Please be well. This life is full of miracles, and I will hope to see you back wi...

Re: Stereo_Camera Calibration error

Stereomaton, the key issue here is that 4.1.0 was the only stable release can be installed on the Raspberry Pi, all other releases are buggy. I will take a look at the newer stablwe releases.

Stereomaton, for me this issue still exists in OpenCV 4. Here is my version on a desktop computer:

Code: Select all

Re: External trigger sync

Hi Grunky, Stereomaton, thank you for your detailed answer! Grunky, I'd like to add one more idea here. If we are talking about extremely high-precision timing for camera synchronization and capture time, we have the only option here - it is low-level sensors synchronization and external trigger sig...

Re: StereoPi Issue - Right camera input displaying magenta in hotspots

Atpfoto, thank you for this extended testing!!!!
I plan to get this magenta effect with one camera, to localize the raspistill parameter, which is not synchronized correctly between two sensors. My experience says, that localizing the problem helps Raspberry Pi engineers to fix this quickly.

Re: StereoPi Issue - Right camera input displaying magenta in hotspots

Julsboo, is the same camera stays "magenta" if you turn on the "swap camera" option in the Admin panel? p.s. I will try to repeat this bug on my setup, and formulate a bug-report to the RPF. I will also try to find an option affecting on this magenta effect (AWB, color balance etc.) UPD> I posted th...

Julsboo, 6mm lenses are more friendly to the customer. Actually we've tested a lot of lenses, and in a process of developing a special metal housing for the stereoscopic setup for HQ cameras. :-)

Re: stereo camera for long exposure time

Julsboo, I'm curious, what lenses are you using with the HQ camera? I'm using 16mm lenses (suggested by Raspberry), but I feel problems with its "focus depth". I can focus either on nearby objects or on far objects, regardless of the iris settings.

Re: stereo camera for long exposure time

Hello Julsboo, As you noticed, our SLP code is a mix of admin panel (PHP) as a frontend, and bash for a backend. If you wish to add a new parameter to the admin panel, you can: 1. Edit /var/www/html/index.php and add an intrface element, for example "Exposure time", with appropriate id (like id="my_...

Re: Stereo_Camera Calibration error

Hello Vram,
This fisheye code can work with both fisheye and non-fisheye images. In this forum thread, I used this fisheye code with the customer's set, taken on V2 non-fisheye camera. You can see it works, and even does a minor barrel undistortion for V2 camera.

Re: Stereo_Camera Calibration error

Vram, I repeated all experiments. Looks like I didn't upload the latest fixes. For the current set, we have a few photos, where chessboard corners are too close to the side. This is an undocumented requirement for the calibration session. I'm uploading the file with the draft fix, please check if it...

Re: StereoPi Issue - Right camera input displaying magenta in hotspots

Hi Aftphoto, Thank you for your detailed troubleshooting! I can suggest we have a parameter sync issue (i.e. implementing master camera settings to the slave camera settings). If so, I will recheck this and ask RPF engineers to fix that. To confirm this hypothesis, can you please do one more test, a...
