Re: Faster framerate

Hi Fraserbarton, I was trying to look inside camera work logic. At this moment I found, that actually you can get information about cirrent frame capture status using GPIO, originally intended for the camera LED. Here is the discussion . This scope requires a deep investigation, but I have a hypothe...

Re: Localization and Mapping using Stereo-Pi

Hi Sofia,
I planned to use octomap package in my future experiments. It allows to build vortex-like maps, and it is also mentioned, that this approach can be run on Raspberry Pi. Here is this notice: https://answers.ros.org/question/326312 ... algorthim/

Re: Faster framerate

Hi Fraserbaton, While taking a still images Pi works in a special mode, and high FPS is a problem here. Another point is that raspividyuv actually can give you a high frame rate over pipe, but Python is unable to process this stream fast enough. Can you please tell me the background of your task? 1....

Re: Capturing monochromatic images

Hi Fraserbarton, 1. To start with, in our C++ example we used a trick available in raspividyuv utility. It is a "--luma" key, which force system to give you just a luma component. Unfortunately, this option is not available at PiCamera. But you can use a transmission over pipe, like in this Gist . O...

Re: Broken Stereoscopic Support in Raspbian Stretch

Hi Fraserbarton, Stereomaton is right - you need to add extra option like "sbs" to your command line. I.e. try this: raspistill -3d sbs As for you second issue (like no access to the camera after forcing stereoscopic mode in Python). Looks like you faced an issue I mention several months ago here on...

Re: SLP update discussion

Today, I thought that perhaps you could also add the "classical" 24/25/50 fps video framerates in the selection menu. Ok. But what if the user will decide to set FullHD at 50 fps? I think we need to do either "simple presets" (locking resolution+FPS), or "advanced settings" with some checking logic...

Re: Genlock

By looking closely, you can find some small rivalries, but it is hard to decide if they are due to error of synchronization, compression artifacts or misalignment of the clips. Stereomaton, thank you for your experiment! As for your notice - my experiments with the water shoots shows me, that refle...

Re: Low Profile (staggered) Stereovision?

As you can see in the next image, even with a such small base on 720p image, you could retrieve quite a lot of good quality depth information. Here, it was extracted with a (slow) dense optical flow estimator, whose result was projected into horizontal direction (ie. ignoring vertical displacement)...

Re: Stereo_Camera Calibration error

Wow, thank you for sharing the solution! I planned to use another approach (catching exception), but your solution is more elegant. I will test it with my code and update GitHub repository! UPD> Just a curious, where "2000" comes from, and how this number should be changed according to the calibrati...

Re: Mounting image to check original parameters

Hi Stereomaton, Thank you for your tip! I will add it to our Wiki. By the way, under MacOS I mount RPi images using Paragon extFS for Mac. It also helps me to avoid recording of the image to the card to access some code and default settings. UPD> We use "contrast=-15" as a default, but may be "0" is...

Re: Low Profile (staggered) Stereovision?

The first idea is that after scaling one of your images you'll actually get the same equivalent stereobase. You can not cheat a physics here. That's what is really bugging my brain. Long story short, in flight school we're taught about visual illusions and how to mentally extract 3d information fro...

Re: Low Profile (staggered) Stereovision?

Hi 78163, Interesting question. The first idea is that after scaling one of your images you'll actually get the same equivalent stereobase. You can not cheat a physics here. Some ideas on this: 1. If your space is limited - for example, 50 mm width, you need to use it as effective as possible. 1st i...

Re: Genlock

Stereomaton, most frequent problem with the video recordings is a setting of the parameters, not supported by the cameras. Like FullHD at 42 FPS etc. So it is better to start with the default settings, and after that do a changes to test, if they works. You see, in SLP we try to give more flexibilit...

Re: StereoPi Not Booting

Hi Formosana, According to your current draw measurements, system is not trying to boot. It should consume 700mA-1.1A while boot. Checklist for you: 1. Please disconnect all equipment, except Compute Module, micro SD and HDMI cable. Sometimes wrong connected camera ribbon cables (not at 90 degree) d...

New guide: StereoPi used as USB device

Today we've published new article: USB gadget mode and network over USB.
Now you can access StereoPi over network using just one USB-micro USB cable. One more feature of our micro USB port is described (USB gadget mode).

SLP update discussion

We're planning to do S.L.P. Raspbian image update. Known bugs (v0.2.3): - FIle manager in Admin panel is using some external JS scripts. When StereoPi admin panel is accessed within a network without Internet, admin page design is broken. We are plan to copy all JS onboard. - Expand root partition f...

Re: 3D scanning with structured light

As I see, StereoPi can act as a frames grubber for the post-processing, or can be used for calculating 3D scene. I also noticed, that actually described solution uses 1 camera and a projector. You can update it for using 2 cameras, but it will need more math and coding. Stereomaton provided a link t...

Re: Genlock

Hi Oteppi and Stereomaton, I agree with Stereomaton, that in 99% cases current sync is Ok. But if you want 100% sync, let me describe several approaches you can use: 1. Original V1/V2 cameras and pin-to-pin compatible clones All that staff has no support for software controlled genlock. But you can ...
