Re: DISFlow for disparity map

Stereomaton, I think we can pass already rectified/calibrated image pair to get the best result. I hope to find some time to experiment with this approach.

Re: New to Raspberry Pi

Hi Mango, The video from the StereoPi is (usually) side-by-side. You can view it on the mobile phone using the cardboard-like solution. But Oculus is a more advanced thing. Ideally, it needs an equirectangular video. You can do this by post-processing, and it needs a lot of tricks. This is too big t...

Re: Overlay Sensor Data onto Video Feed

Hi Phowe, Your project looks extremely interesting! Would you mind sharing it as a guide when you finish it? We can post it on our blog for other users to repeat! If you do a GitHub repo for this - we'll post it too! You wrote, "I can only get one camera to display unless I use the sample codes". Th...

Re: StereoPi v2

Hi smerrett79, I'd consider 16mm lenses. We have a chance to play with a few. We found the Raspberry Pi recommended 16mm lens very sensitive to the depth of field. I.e., it would help if you made a precise adjustment to get high sharpness at the distance you need. There is also one more 16mm lens we...

Re: StereoPi v2

Rigsson, Camera Kit includes two 160 degrees FOV cameras, based on IMX219 sensor (like V2 cameras).
I did some changes to the pledges description, hope the Crowd Supply team will publish them today.

JeffWitz thank you! I'll try to play with this!
I need to figure out how we can get point cloud with this approach :)

Dave, we'll post an official update on this later, but you can download 3D STEP model for the StereoPi v2 right now: StereoPi v2 STEP file Let me know if this link works for you. Please note, that our model includes a simplified CM4 model. If you need a detailed CM4 model, you can download it from R...

Hi itsikw, Actually, Stereomaton described his elegant way in the article, and we posted it on our blog: https://stereopi.com/blog/synchronizing-photos-two-stereopi-boards JFYI, user 3DStereoPhoto is trying to achieve the same goal (as he mentioned in this message: https://forum.stereopi.com/viewtop...

Re: separate gains/exposure times?

HI ori333, To say briefly - yes! You can run to instances of raspivid, each working with its own camera. Ans set the parameters you need for each camera. You can also do this by accessing video devices over VFL. Please note, that in this case, you are working with 2 independent cameras, but not in t...

Re: DISFlow for disparity map

Hi JeffWitz, As for the DISFlow - thank you for highlighting this! I'll try to play with it! Did you have a chance to play with it on Raspberry Pi? I'm curious about the performance of this approach. If you have a kind of tutorial (or can do a draft one) - this will be great! As for the old code - l...

Re: Help! Naked Stereo pi with cm3+ 32G; Impossible to setup?

smerrett79 actually eMMC is better for industrial solutions. It's fast and reliable (and fewer connectors in the solution). But micro SD is easier to work with. For example, if you need to change one file in a BOOT partition, you eject micro SD and insert into your computer. But for the eMMC, you sh...

Re: StereoPi v2

Brilliant! Just backed this campaign. Never used stereopi V1 so looking forward to this. I would like to build a stereo microscope with the HQ cameras that can output to a stereo headset (google cardboard, FPV goggles). I see that you make a mount for the HQ cameras but so far I have not ordered on...

Hi Lincoln, As I understand, when you are turning on your USB Gadget mode, you have no access to Raspberry OS to make changes. As described in the article, if you switch this secret USB mode, our onboard Ethernet and USB are turned off. I.e. your Edimax dongle won’t work in this case. Here are some ...

Re: Idea : stereoscopic camera person counter

Fruitjog, yep, there are a lot of commercial solutions, based on stereoscopic vision. They are doing their job fine, but all of them are not hacker-friendly and using a closed commercial hardware/software. So if you are looking for a commercial solution - it's a good way to look at them. But if you ...

Re: New to Raspberry Pi

Hi Mango, Short answers: 1. You can use a desktop-like environment. Use stock RaspiOS, and just add dt-blob.bin (as described in Wiki) to enable 2 cameras. In this case, you can work like with the desktop computer. 2. Take a look at this post about the physical button to take photos You also say "st...
